Domaine Guigal was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, a small ancient village and the birthplace of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. It is home to a unique vineyard where vines and wine have been celebrated for 2400 years.
The vineyards are terraced in the shape of a Roman amphitheatre. The terroir is composed of gneiss giving light-coloured siliceous soils mixed with calcareous loess. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Pumping over is traditional. Vatting lasts a minimum of four weeks.
