Almaviva, made by the family behind the Mouton Rothschild Premier Cru, Viña Almaviva combines the freshness and balance of Bordeaux with the power of Napa. The 2018 vintage, with its 98 points, "is without doubt one of the best ever produced".

Its colour is an almost black violet. After decanting, the wine opens with explosive aromas of blackcurrant, black plum, blueberry, fresh mint, mocha, baking spices and freshly picked wild herbs. Both ripe and generous, it retains its freshness and liveliness, with tight tannins and a nervous intensity on the palate. Its structure is ideal for flavours of black cherry, loganberry, aromatic herbs and a touch of camphor, followed by notes of pastry chocolate and exotic spices. Full of youthful vigour, it has a generous structure and vitality that will slowly improve over the coming decades.
