Château Ausone - St Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé 1990

An entire myth in one bottle!
Château Ausone is considered to be the most intellectually demanding wine produced in Bordeaux. This wine often seems to need 40-50 years to lose some of its astringency and closed style. The 1990 is not a charming, precocious wine. It's closed, but the colour is a dense dark ruby, with no amber or orange around the edges. The fruit is sweeter, and the wine is more muscular, richer and fuller on the palate, without losing Ausone's characteristic minerality, spice and blackcurrant fruit. This medium- to full-bodied wine has a lovely base of sweet fruit that deserves another 15-20 years of cellaring. Expected maturity: 2008-2030.
