The wines of Daniel and Martha Gantenbein are probably the best known and most renowned Swiss wines abroad.
On the edge of the village of Fläsch, in the Grisons Rhine Valley, stands a group of remarkable buildings surrounded by vineyards: the Gantenbein cellarMartha and Daniel Gantenbein have been making wine here since 1982. They knew from the beginning that the vine was the key, which is why they planted Burgundy clones in their vineyards. They learned that it's vital for the grapes to retain their quality throughout their journey from vine to bottle, so they structured their production accordingly: The flow of grapes and juice is based on the force of gravity, which means that no pumps or filters are needed. An area of 12.5 hectares - and therefore the majority - is dedicated to Pinot Noir.
Gantenbein pinots are icons. These wines contain everything pinot noir lovers want. Fruit, structure, elegance, complexity, energy, balance and soul.
