Château Pavie St Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé 2016

Château Pavie 1er Grand Cru Classé "A" de Saint-Emilion since the 2012 vintage, Château Pavie 2017 is a powerful, racy wine, as its terroir would have it!
Pavie 2016 is a blend of 60 % Merlot and 40 % Cabernet Franc. Very deep purple-black in colour, it needs a little attention to open up, slowly revealing a perfume of violets, chocolate-covered cherries, crushed blueberries and eucalyptus, over a core of candied plums, kirsch, black raspberries and crème de cassis, with hints of liquorice and grilled meat. Full-bodied and built like a brick house, it rests on a solid base of firm, very ripe, grainy tannins and harmonious freshness, mixed with candied black fruit and mineral notes. The finish is very long and delicious. Superb!
