Point Final II " Cabernet/Syrah " Jean Michel Novelle

The Point Final collection is the culmination of a long wait. Varietal wines vinified almost a decade ago, a selection of the best barrels and a 6-year stay in oak: all the conditions required for the Late Bottle Vintage, LBV, appellation.

A blend of 'hermitagé' Cabernet Sauvignon with a proportion of Syrah. Again with the 08 and 09 vintages (cool for 08 and warm for 09), barrel ageing for six years before harmonisation and bottling in 2018.The first big difference between this cuvée and Point Final I is that the nose has less of an impression of barrel ageing. There is again a discreet kirsch character, followed by notes of black fruit, including blackberry and blueberry, spices and Oude wood. On the palate, the wine is both melted and powerful, expressing vinosity and a freshness that contrasts with the slightly kirsch character of the nose. This is a complex, almost intriguing wine that is a pleasure to play with in the glass. The Cabernet Sauvignon shines through. It is young, fresh, fruity and well-structured, with magnificent drinkability. This is a wine of magnificent purity, intensity and precision. And it has the potential to keep for 15 years without worry. 98/100 - March 2025
